Chippewa Cree Tribal Justice Center

Overview of Project
The Chippewa Cree Tribe applied for a grant through the Department of Justice, FY09 Recovery Act (BJA -Tribal Lands Correctional Facilities Construction/Renovation),to construct a new detention center to house adult and juvenile detainees in one facility. The grant was awarded on 09/21/2009. Approval was then given for the Chippewa Cree Tribe onto engage into a sole source contract with the Chippewa Cree Construction Corporation as approved by BJA (Bureau of Justice Assistance), on February 8, 2010. By Resolution the per the Chippewa Cree Tribe, the Chippewa Cree Construction Corporation will plan, design and construct the CCT Justice Center as awarded.
ICON Architectural Group has been retained for building design and AE2S has been retained for site design. Construction will commence in spring 2010 with the completion date tentatively scheduled in summer 2011. The center will be built on Stone Child College Road about 5 miles from Box Elder.
